Fourteen people walked away with brighter smiles and lighter hearts yesterday, thanks to Queensland Country Dental’s Dental Rescue Day—a special morning dedicated to providing free dental care to those in need.

In partnership with the Australian Dental Health Foundation (ADA), the event offered vital oral health treatment to vulnerable members of the community—people who may otherwise struggle to access the dental care they need due to chronic or complex health conditions, or financial hardship.

Held at the Queensland Country Dental practice in Townsville, the team opened their doors for half a day of pro bono dental appointments, with patients nominated by eight local community organisations - Act For Kids, Althea Projects, a local women's shelter, St Vincent de Paul, QLD Positive People (QPP), Centacare, Selectability and Uniting Care.

“Good oral health is so important for overall wellbeing,” said Queensland Country Dental Principal Dentist, Dr Brendan Mudge.

“For many of the patients we saw, today’s care wasn’t just about check-ups or cleanings—it was about relief from pain, restoring confidence, and improving quality of life.”

Following the success of last year’s event, the team was proud to once again volunteer their time and skills to give back to the community. This year’s effort brought together a passionate group of seven dentists, one oral health therapist, and 14 support staff, all committed to making a real difference.

“It’s always inspiring to see the impact a single morning can have,” Dr Mudge added.

“We’re proud to support initiatives like this that align with our mission of helping people live better lives through quality healthcare”.

A big thank you to Bakers Delight Aitkenvale, who generously donated some tasty treats for a special team lunch to help the celebrate the day and their efforts.

The dental team are already looking ahead to the next year’s event to give back—because everyone deserves access to genuine care, right here in their community.
