Last month we farewelled Queensland Country Health Fund Board Director and former Chair, Michael Beard. Executive Manager, Glenn Seri, acknowledged the contribution Michael has made during his 20 years with the health fund, including a significant period of growth under his Chairmanship between 2006 to 2020.

“During Michael’s tenure as Chair, Queensland Country Health Fund has expanded to include three dental practices, a Care Navigation team, the launch of Territory Health Fund, and successfully led us through the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

“Last year he facilitated a seamless transition to incoming Chair, Karen Read, remaining on as a Director until the AGM in November to support Karen and the Board.

“Michael has helped shape the Health Fund into what it has become today and he leaves the organisation in safe hands with Karen to continue the exceptional Member focus that is a hall mark of Queensland Country Health Fund.”

Chief Executive Officer Aaron Newman said it has been a pleasure to work closely with Mr Beard over many years and praised his cultural leadership.

“Michael has been Queensland Country’s longest serving Director over 35 years and has been on both the bank and health fund boards during that time,” he said.

“The personal values Michael lives by have had a strong influence on the nature of the decisions we make and how we make them, and this filters through the organisation to set the tone and culture for our business.

“Michael has a great depth of knowledge, is a really good person and will certainly be missed from the Board.

“We thank Michael for his contribution to Queensland Country and wish him well as he continues to work in his accountancy practice that operates out of Mount Isa and the Sunshine Coast.”
