Chloe Costanzo, Queensland Country Health Fund Member Experience Manager, recently had to stay at McIlwraith on the Park for 11 nights. She travelled down to Brisbane for her husband’s seventh surgery on his right foot. After almost losing his foot years ago from a sporting injury, he was referred to a private surgeon who performed experimental surgery to save it. Any subsequent surgeries will now be performed by that doctor in Brisbane.

We sat down with Chloe and asked her about her experience...

What did you enjoy about your stay and how did it assist you during this time?

It was a 15 minute walk from the Wesley Hospital, which made visiting very easy. My husband was discharged in a wheelchair and the unit was big enough to accommodate this. Queensland Country Health Fund even provided a shower chair for the duration of our stay meaning it was one less thing we needed to organise. The kitchen facilities and utensils meant we were able to cook up a storm and when we arrived there was milk and some pantry items to get us by before our online grocery order arrived.

Why would you recommend the accommodation to a Queensland Country Health Fund Member?

Because it gives you somewhere comfortable to stay for a great price while you’re away from home. It really does make the experience a lot easier knowing that you have somewhere safe, comfortable and reliable to stay.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

We didn’t make use of it, but you walk through the Auchenflower train station to access the Wesley Hospital. This would be a great feature for anyone wanting to travel around the city or to visit people while in the area.
